Poplar StreetCred is the name of Poplar's Resident Benefits program that includes a variety of features aimed at making your renting experience safe, more economical, and rewarding.

The benefits of StreetCred include:

  1. Included in your monthly rent:

    1. Pathway to Homeownership program

  2. If you're paying for the monthly Resident Benefits Package:

    1. Quarterly air filter delivery (so long as Poplar has correct details on your air filter sizes and quantity)

    2. Renter's Insurance (unless you've specifically opted out of this piece of the program)

    3. Credit Reporting (helps build your credit with each on-time rent payment)

    4. $1M Identity Protection

    5. Rent Rewards (fulfilled via Piñata)

    6. Move-in Concierge

As a resident leasing one of our homes, you're automatically enrolled in StreetCred. Each month when you pay rent on time, you earn StreetCred points, much like airline miles. These points accumulate each month. If you buy a home in the future with Poplar as your buyer's agent, you can redeem StreetCred points as a cash back rebate towards closing costs.

In order to get your StreetCred points as a cash back rebate, you must use Poplar as your buyer's agent and purchase a home in a state that we're licensed in. The maximum amount of cash back you can earn is up to 100% of the buyer's agent commission that we earn in the transaction (minus any costs we have towards closing or paying a buyer's agent to process the transaction).

As an example, let's say you've earned 10,000 StreetCred points over the course of three years as a Poplar resident. At the end of those three years, you decide to buy a house and reach out to Poplar to be your buyer's agent. You end up purchasing a $400,000 home. The typical buyer's agent commission earned is 2-3% of the sale, so Poplar earns roughly $12,000 as your agent. We have $2,000 of closing costs to pay, and then Poplar sends you a check for the full $10,000 as a cash back rebate after closing on your home.
